Name:
Mordinian Solus
Race: Firstborn
Age: 177
Biography: Potentially one of the more famous, or infamous, men to ever return from the surface, Mordinian Solus has established a code of conduct that has won him as many enemies as friends in the Hollow Earth- the ends justify the means, by any means necessary.
Life below the surface had been more than agreeable with Mordinian starting at a young age. Son of Verethis Solus, a well known doctor among the communities and personal physician to several families, Mordianian was given attention constantly by either his own family or those seeking to get in their good graces. Though not a particularly social child, Mordinian found himself the center of a growing group of friends, taking advantage of it to lead 'adventures' through tunnels and caves around their communities. Although Mordinian eventually outgrew his group of friends, taking on his first rune at the age of thirty, his time at the center of attention was far from over. Receiving the second tier of his rune at the age of eighty, Mordinian began volunteering on expeditions to help explore tunnels for expansion around the cities. On the eve of his one hundred and twentieth birthday, Mordinian contacted his few remaining close friends with a proposition- one final adventure far into the tunnels, albeit technically on business to search for an herb his father needed, located a few miles below the surface. The day after his birthday, Mordinian departed with his friends and an accompanying entourage of guards with supplies for three weeks and a map of the tunnels as far as his father had made it, twenty miles above their home. After several days of moving along the tunnels, harassed by the myriad of creatures calling the Hollow Earth their home as well, Mordinian arrived at one of the few forks that could lead to the surface with only one less head than they'd left with.
Filled with a sudden lust to see it personally, Mordinian marched the group further towards the surface, confident that none of them knew how close they really were. Within a few hours, one of the guards of the group confronted Mordinian, demanding they turn back and tell his father they had failed. Using the map and distance they had traveled as his leverage, Mordinian marched ahead whether they followed or not; which they did, with a mixture of fear and curiosity. What happened after that has been told a different way by each person that returned, and perhaps more flavorfully so each time. The agreed consensus of the group is that the surface was not to be taken lightly. Ambushed by a number of creatures that might have resembled animals at one point, Mordinian lead the group through three battles on the surface, utilizing his earth rune to great effect. The journey back to the Hollow Earth was finally taken two days later when they ran into their first spirit, herbs and memories in hand, but now numbering four out of the original twenty. Upon returning to their city deep in the Hollow Earth, Mordinian gave his father the herbs and immediately told the Assembly the story of what had happened, and what they had seen. Hailed by some as a hero for returning from the surface, and others as a villain for wasting the lives of his friends and guards needlessly, Mordinian spent the next fifty years of his life using his experience to the best of his ability, aiding in more detailed mapmaking and using his runes to help create safer tunnels, while resuming his position of leading expeditions out deeper into the tunnels to allow further expansion of their cities. At the age of one hundred and seventy, Mordinian petitioned the Assembly to allow him to lead a larger, better equipped party to the surface, to establish a settlement they could use to eventually help reclaim what was once theirs. In the seven years since then, Mordinian has acquired and mastered the third tier of his earth rune, practicing the use of the spirits with his cousin, Alushtas.
